some of the crowd at ideas3, a port80 event

Well, it’s now been and gone.

After months of organising, the ideas3 event was a success, with plenty of feedback rolling in about how good both John Allsopp and Mark Boulton were – inspirational, funny, opinionated, just what we needed. :)

Thanks to the 80 people who attended, our gracious sponsors, and the two speakers – this was a great night! Roll on the next event (once I am not so exhausted!).

Have a look at the Flickr account, and watch the ideas3 page for the podcasts, coming soon.

Damian "Junior Gong" Marley, performing at West Coast Blues & Roots Festival, Fremantle, WA

Yesterday, Meredith and I celebrated our eighth wedding anniversary by going to the West Coast Blues & Roots Festival on the Esplanade, Fremantle. There were approx. 10,000 people there, to see some great performers on two stages, including Damian Marley, Keb Mo, Bernard Fanning, Michael Franti, the Black Keys; 18 acts in all, from 11.00am until 11pm.

Highlight for us was being three people from the front, right near center stage to see Damian “Junior Gong” Marley, youngest son of Bob Marley, perform hits from his debut album, Welcome to Jamrock. I wouldn’t call myself a regular reggae listener but Damian is something else – a very cool hip hop style of reggae with lots of samples and a huge stage presence.

American blues musician from the sixties, Keb Mo, was also a great performer, it was just him, his guitar and his harmonica, and he had the crowd dancing the late afternoon away.
