Sail and Anchor Brewery

Next time you eat or drink, take a moment to consider who is behind your food or beverage, and consider their passion and skill in preparing it.

Because of my work with brew.com.au, I have been very lucky to meet some amazing people involved in brewing Australian beer. Recently, I got to spend a few hours on a sunny weekday afternoon at the Sail and Anchor brewery, Fremantle.

The oldest brewing pub in Australia, the majestic Sail and Anchor is something to see, however the most incredible element is the head brewer there, Richard Moroney, who is just a wealth of knowledge when it comes to beer and brewing, and a passionate advocate for beer in general.

His actual title at his ‘office’ is actually Beer Ambassador, and upon meeting him, you can understand why.

Not only is he a very talented brewer, and makes some great brews, he is also a beer historian, knowing the history of beer intimately, from back in the early times until more recently. All this from a self taught guy, amazing.

I’m very lucky to meet such passionate and successful people just about every day through Port 80 and at Bam Creative – we seem to collect some amazing staff, suppliers, friends and clients.

Thanks everyone for your passion and enthusiasm, it inspires me daily.

I love Fremantle beer; Sail & Anchor or Little Creatures, they’re both good. Not fond of Gage Roads though.
